{"id":337,"date":"2010-01-24T00:00:48","date_gmt":"2010-01-24T08:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sistahology.com\/blog\/?p=337"},"modified":"2010-01-23T20:41:19","modified_gmt":"2010-01-24T04:41:19","slug":"true-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sistahology.com\/blog\/true-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"True Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>What is true freedom? Is it simply a function of having no limits on our time and space, being able to move from place to place without restrictions, go wherever our heart desires to take us? Is it having enough latitude to say and do as we please, enough money to tell an employer to \u201ctake this job and shove it?\u201d Is it having no commitments, responsibilities, and obligation to tie us down?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Granted, all of the above represent some measure of being free, but are they really what true freedom is all about?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>I think back to slavery- a word which conjures up images of our ancestors in chains, people taken from their homeland by force, trickery, and other people\u2019s greed- is still alive and present today.\u00a0 Individually, we are all still slaves to our own personal addictions.\u00a0 Whether it is money, alcohol, drugs, a job, a relationship, or lifestyle to which we have become accustomed, we have allowed ourselves to become bound by the chains of our desires.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>The fact is, we are all prisoners of life\u2019s constraints-whatever they may be.\u00a0 But that is not to say that achieving true freedom is an impossible dream.\u00a0 Difficult as it may be to get there, I believe the goal is attainable.\u00a0 A journey to place where you are totally liberated, attaining true freedom is an ongoing exercise in getting to the point where you realize you need nothing or no one to make you feel worthy, complete or of value.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>You cannot truly be free unless you can walk away from everything- that job, that man, that relationship, that lifestyle, that dress, car, shoes, or bag you simply must have to feel worthwhile.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Point being we are of value because we are somebody.\u00a0 We exist, and our existence is what makes us of value in this world.\u00a0 Simply put, we need nothing else to validate us, except what we choose to do with our lives.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>The choice we make every day to do or not do this thing or that thing is the price we pay for the privilege of being free.\u00a0 How close we are to attaining true freedom is always an individual moment, however, each of us brought closer or taken farther away from achieving that goal by the choices that we make and the behavior patterns that we allow to rule us.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Being ready for true freedom take preparation.\u00a0 For many of us, it is a goal that may not be achieved until we reach the end of our lives.\u00a0 Personally, I believe that the surrender to and acceptance of death\u2019s embrace is, by fact, the closest we can ever get to achieving true freedom.\u00a0 How prepared will you be at that time, again it\u2019s a purely individual moment.\u00a0 While we are still alive, however, is it the only time we will ever have to prepare?\u00a0 Cheers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is true freedom?
