Claiming Your Space

Sunday, July 22nd, 2012

We were taught a lot by example, not sure what’s happening in this new age of living.  But over time we’ve fallen into forgetfulness.  We’ve forgotten our power, our passion and our place.  We should be working together in joy, love and celebration to create an agenda that serves our purpose in life, or purpose for being.

We must remember the great benefits we enjoy today don’t come from nothing.  They have grown out of a long glorious legacy of mutual love, faith and commitment, which gave our foremother the courage to stand strong together and if necessary fight for justice, fight for our children & families.  What’s happening right before our eyes today, we have forgotten how to stand.  We must stand for something or we will continue to fall for anything.  Cheers!

The Power of Peace

Sunday, July 15th, 2012

Peace is a state that we all want. It is a feeling of wellness deep within. As our society grows more and more complex, finding true peace becomes more like trying to find an oasis in the desert. My life is a busy one as well, as running a company and all of the stress & demands that comes with it, definitely takes its toll over time.

Accept what is

There is only so much we can affect. What we cannot change, what we cannot influence no matter what, should not be a concern to us. This is what I notice with so many people, in that we focus and linger on things which we have no control over. Why worry about something that all the worrying in the world will not change? Why care about what other people think of us when we’re not even sure what it is they are actually thinking? Once you open the blinds to this fact, and start accepting what is that you cannot change, you automatically relieve yourself of a mountain of stress and anxiety. It’s like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Taking this path is following a road towards peace.  Cheers!

I will commit to take care of myself

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

As you begin to follow a healthier lifestyle, you are giving yourself the message that you are worth taking care of. Even if you’re not sure yet if you believe that, you’ll soon start to feel better physically, and that will help you feel more positive.

Exercise several times a week, eat healthy foods, and learn some relaxation techniques for when you need to take a stress break.

If you do not take care of yourself, who will?  You owe yourself that much, right?  Start today!  Cheers!

A Woman’s Worth (Self-Worth)

Sunday, July 1st, 2012

How do you feel about yourself? Is it good or bad? How you feel about yourself is self-esteem. It is your perception of how you are doing in the world. Self-esteem may go up or down depending upon what is happening to you. Get a promotion at work you feel great, but if you get a demotion on the job you feel terrible. Self-esteem is changeable.

Self-worth differs from self-esteem. Self-worth is what you are born with. As one of the creations of the universe you are worthwhile and have value, which cannot be taken from you. You can’t lose it, but you can lose sight of it. You can forget your value.

Many of us were taught to focus on others and not on ourselves. As children we are told not to brag or be selfish. In life while wanting to be accepted, we may have minimized our accomplishments to avoid appearing conceited. As adults we may have developed a false humility to avoid looking prideful. We may come to not like ourselves and believe that we don’t deserve anything good. Self-esteem suffers while self-worth is forgotten.

The reality is that loving another as you love yourself begins with you. You must love and value yourself before you can love others. You have to respect yourself and acknowledge your own self-worth. You must take care of yourself so that you can love and take care of others.

Does this make you selfish? No. It makes you responsible.  Cheers!
