Happiness is life’s most cherished goal. On every continent, in every country and in every culture, when people are asked, “What do you want?” the most popular answer is “happiness.” Happiness is the goal that makes other life goals like success, prosperity and relationships feel meaningful and enjoyable.
It’s official—the pursuit of happiness has sped up! We are chasing after happiness faster than ever. And the faster we run, the longer the race becomes.
Why does happiness seem so out of reach sometimes? Given the inalienable, constitutional right to pursue our own happiness, we wonder where we’re supposed to pursue it, and what, precisely, we have a right to. When does my happiness become your pain? Is happiness a fate or a choice, and what makes us happy, if we’re honest? Finally, in a world with so much upheaval, uncertainty, struggle, and injustice, how can we be deeply happy? What definition of happiness is large enough to contain all that?
At the end of the day it is our responsibility to determine what makes us happy, what keeps us happy and how we embrace happiness every single day! It’s a choice, and it’s your choice. Cheers!
