Stay Focused

May 2nd, 2010

Give up on perfection.  Remember that life is a marathon, not a sprint.  Some things will always be out of your control.  Learn to accept that, and focus on making the choices that will lead you towards your goal.  Stay focus and remember your target.  Cheers!

“Conquering Fear”

April 25th, 2010

Don’t let “what if” hold you back.  Confront you fears.  Fear can be difficult for many of us for many reasons.  Many times we do not understand the source of our fears and therefore we have a hard time letting go.  Sometimes we experience secondary gain from holding onto fear, pain and anxiety, which brings them attention and fulfills an unmet need.  Many of us who feel their fear is hindering part of their life may require additional help resources to learn to let go.  Don’t be afraid to contact a professional, this person can be the key to releasing overwhelming fear and its hold on one’s personal life.

I realize fear is nothing more than “false evidence appearing real”.  At the end of the day what we often fear is never painful as our imaginations would have us believe.  Fear can also be described as a shadow that lurks behind every bright light in life.  Shadows can’t hurt us; they just cast a dark outlook on life.  When you realize that fear will always show up, you can choose to take away its power.  Action and faith is the key to combating fear because “sometimes in life you just have to just go for it.”

Only you can decide how long you will allow fear to keep you ensconced in the confined of your comfort zones.  Take a deep breath and close your eyes and “let go”.  Once you do this you cannot be stopped!  Cheers!

Three Things Every Friendship Needs to Survive.

April 18th, 2010

Our relationships are vital to our mental well-being. However, toxic relationships can really do a number on our happiness and outlook on life. As a result, it is important to look for individuals who possess qualities that allow for healthy relationships. Although, once again, not an exhaustive list, the qualities listed below are those that should be at the very heart of a healthy relationship. And, just as you would expect your friend, family member or loved one to display these qualities, it is just as important to reciprocate.

1. Loyalty: Whether it’s in friendships or in family, loyalty is truly important to maintain a healthy relationship. All of us are guilty, at one time or another, of making mistakes, having ups and downs, and even displaying some behavior that we may not always be proud of. When we find friends or loved ones who can forgive us and stand by us…even during our worst moments…we should be especially grateful. That said, loyalty should never be taken for granted and we should always be deeply appreciative when it comes our way.

2. Respect: Treating others with kindness and the respect they deserve is important in gaining the respect that WE desire. It never feels good to be taken for granted, judged or used and it doesn’t feel good to be talked down to or treated rudely or inappropriately. There will be times that we may not always have full agreement with our friends or loved ones, but respecting them along the way is a must.

3. Unconditionally There: There is nothing worse than having someone always resurface in your life when they are in need, are looking for something or need a favor. In a culture of “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours,” it is somewhat rare to find those “who just scratch your back,” period. Finding individuals who want you in their lives just because…and not because they want something in return is refreshing and worth holding on to. Those who are generous of heart are to be treasured!

Cheers!

Living

April 11th, 2010

We are all deliberate creators of our lives. Some of us are just existing but not living. News flash: Continue living your life as a victim and focusing on what’s wrong with everything and placing blame on everyone will only bring more of what you DON’T want into your life.

How ’bout looking in the mirror and starting there. Where we are right this very second is because of what we have done in our past. The fairy tale that you are finally living is very possible. You can do a 360 with your career, your business and your relationships when you are not sleep-walking through life. Sadly, some of us have been brainwashed to think that most of our desires are not only self-serving egotistical no-no’s but absurdly impossible. Well, they are all possible, if we just believe in our destiny and ourselves.  Cheers!

You were born to be Successful

April 4th, 2010

Success comes naturally for you.  You have a vision about you & your life that nobody else can see.  In order to continue on your path to success you must “GET AND KEEP YOUR MIND RIGHT”.  Gaining a healthy mind is the best present one could ever give themselves.  Emotional freedom often involves giving up something minor in order to gain something major.  When the mind is free, everything else begins to just flow.  God is then able to do all the things he was waiting to do through you.  We must align ourselves with our higher power, so that you can hear and see clearly what your purpose and the journey facing you, to your success.  Remember emotional health is your path to wealth.

Tips that should prepare you for success:

  • Make a list of things that inspire you.
  • Recognize your inner beauty and all the qualities you have.
  • Make a list of the “blessing blockers” these are the people, things, and places that tend you make you lose focus on your purpose and block your blessings.  Stay away from them!
  • Make a list of things that help you get through difficult days, keep that list close to you so that in those moments you know what to do to escape.
  • Remember we all must have an end goal in life to work towards.  Even if you get off track, at least, you know where you ultimately want to land.  Stay true to yourself!

Simply Wellness

March 28th, 2010

Is your glass half empty or half full? You’re answer that question can say a lot about your frame of mind.

It’s a well-known fact that your emotional wellness can have a direct effect on your physical wellness, but to what degree? Research has found that an upbeat attitude or happiness can help lessen the burden of chronic pain, say from arthritis, or even reduce your chances of developing cardiovascular disease. And, there are some experts out there who think that having a positive outlook on life can even help you live longer.

In a study done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., researchers followed a group of people for 30 years. They found that those who were originally classified as “optimistic” on a standard personality test turned out to be 20% less likely to suffer an early death than those classified as “pessimistic.”

Opt for a Good Mood, Opt to Live Longer

Happiness plays a fairly important role in keeping your brain healthy and vital, too. Staying positive helps fight the “blues.” This is good news in terms of longevity since, among other factors; depression has been shown to increase a person’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

An optimistic outlook isn’t hard to achieve, and doing a few simple “optimism exercises” can yield a big reward. Optimism exercises don’t have to be formal. You can improve your attitude just by taking a nice long walk, manicure, pedicure, or spending time with family & friends that you enjoy being around. Anything that lets you release pent-up negativity and experience calm, peaceful thoughts can go a long way toward helping you become—and stay—more positive.

Training Your Brain to Stay Positive

There are also some specific activities you can undertake to boost your brain’s vitality. The ancient practice of yoga, research has found, can improve your cognitive function, including your memory. Practicing yoga trains your brain to stay focused. It requires you to concentrate on your body’s movement in space and the actual mechanics of your breathing, while tuning out distractions.

Cheers to wellness!

How to Deal With Negative Folks And Stay Upbeat

March 21st, 2010

Living in the real world requires us to peacefully exist with all types, including Ms. Debbie Downer and Mr. Doom and Gloom. Whether the negativity is coming from your spouse, your co-worker, friends, or family members here are some ways to rise above from shine.com:

Remember that it’s a process. Like anything, your response to negativity isn’t going to instantly change. Unfortunately, there’s not a switch we can flip to make ourselves less susceptible to bad vibes. But by staying engaged with proactive solutions, our dealing-with-negativity muscles will grow stronger over time.

Place limits. When someone comes to you with concerns or problems they might be experiencing many of us have a natural desire to be empathic. Empathize with the gripes of others too much, though, and you could feel yourself dragged down by complaints that aren’t even yours. Listen to their concerns and be polite, but be firm; remind them that you’re busy and have time to spare to be a part of negativity.

Remember what it’s really about. When people lash out at you with a response that is totally disproportionate to the situation, think about where their behavior is coming from, chances are it’s not about you. That negativity is an outpouring of what’s going on with them — maybe they hate their job or are dealing with intense stress. Is their behavior appropriate or kind? Absolutely not, but it’s a barometer for the state of their life, and not a reflection of who you are.  Remember to stay true to you no matter what and surround yourself with positive people doing positive things.  Cheers.

Come Out of Hiding

March 14th, 2010

Find a safe place to express your emotions freely.  Hiding is so stressful and creates shame, anger, and illness.  Remember we are seeking wellness. A trusted friend or mentor may be able to help us speak our deepest secrets and fears.  Giving a voice to them melts blockage, helps us heal.  Many of carry years of hurts and pains, things we are ashamed of.  But, sometimes speaking about it helps release you from a sense of bondage.  In that moment, the burden you had carried so long can be lifted.

You can be free!  What causes us pain has to be honored, heard, validated so that we can release it and heal.  If someone rejects you based on what you’ve lived through, it’s a gift, life telling you to cut that tie.  Cheers.

Be Determined

March 7th, 2010

Don’t let anyone put a damper on your dreams.  Work toward a goal that’s for the highest good and your spirit will prepare you to achieve it.  Remember that for a full year 42,000 black people in Montgomery, Alabama, walked, crippling a bus system and toppling a legal system that denied our humanity. You have to have a passion for your dream and goal and self-determination and know that no matter what if you believe it you can achieve it.  Keep stepping, no matter what.  Watch what happens!  Cheers to possibilities.  Cheers!

Make It Easy on Yourself

February 28th, 2010

We release our struggles when we begin to see life as a teacher and a good friend, not a foe.  Otherwise we spend our lives feeling afraid.  Open your eyes.  See the brilliant light all around you.  What brings you joy and fulfillment is God’s plan for your life.  Making critical moves will help God help you live in the light.

It’s Sunday, give thanks for at least one thing!

Cheers!
